Agile Performance Management: Problem Solving for Optimal Performance

Description

Background:

Every organization has a vision. That vision includes the strategic goals necessary to move the organization to its desired state. However, organizations are often in a position where there is a gap between their current state and their strategic goals. Additionally, the plans made to move the organization to the new, desired state are no longer relevant due to changing environmental conditions. The organization has a problem. Managers are responsible for continuous replanning in response to continuous changes. Traditional problem-solving techniques simply take too long and often don’t provide the depth of information necessary to eliminate recurring issues. The manager’s role has been reduced to constant firefighting in a world where more fires appear daily, spread quickly, and are more difficult to extinguish than ever before.

Webinar Description:

The purpose of this webinar is to introduce non-traditional problem-solving techniques that are absolutely essential for today’s VUCA environment. The webinar begins with a description of why the traditional Root Cause Analysis techniques are inadequate for today’s environment. It includes descriptions of other problem-solving techniques, the situations in which those techniques should be used, and variations of those techniques which can be tailored to fit your specific company culture. The webinar ends with suggestions for how to measure performance improvements, how to present them to your organization, and how to convince your organization to adopt the improvements. This webinar is intended for executives, managers, project professionals, and scrum masters who have a role that requires constant problem-solving and impediment removal.

Objectives:

  • Learn why traditional root cause analysis (RCA) is so often used despite its apparent inadequacies
  • Understand the connection between impediments, problem-solving, efficiency, and productivity
  • Discover more applicable problem-solving techniques for your environment than RCA
  • Discuss techniques for promoting process improvement ideas to your managers, peers, and others who need to buy-in

Format:

Short presentation where questions are encouraged throughout the entire webinar
